The program is a self-study qualification based on the comprehensive ICIR Study Guide, updated in March 2025 to reflect recent changes in capital markets, increasing regulation around ESG and sustainability, and evolving best practices. It is assessed through a 60-question multiple-choice examination.

The ICIR is a rigorous qualification, but with adequate preparation it is very achievable. Approximately 75% of candidates pass on their first attempt. The self-study guide is comprehensive, and IR Advantage offers optional revision courses and mock exams to help you prepare with confidence.

The CIR (Certificate in Investor Relations) is the UK-focused version of the qualification, while the ICIR (International Certificate in Investor Relations) is designed for professionals working outside the UK. Both are awarded by The Investor Relations Society. The ICIR covers the same core competencies but frames them within an international context, making it the recommended credential for IR professionals in Indonesia and across the Asia-Pacific region.
